NEW YORK TIMES COP26

Design concepts for the Cummin’s COP26 New York Times Cover (EU).

(3.02) Full spreads (Cover, first page, back page & back cover) for concept “Atomic Number”.

(3.02) Full spreads for concept “A Glass of Water”.

I was presented with the opportunity to work on a series of concepts for Cummin’s New York Times cover. This edition of the NYT was focused on the United Nations climate change conference, COP26, that was based in Glasgow circa 2021.

The assignment mainly asked us to highlight the work Cummins is doing as one of the world’s only companies engineering hydrogen fuel cell technology, a renewable energy souce that has emissions of 0%, which is a stat that virtually no other renewable resource can boast as of yet, not even lithium batteries.

The design process included a copywriter and an art director working together to determine the overall message we wanted to key and begin to workshop how these ideas could visually translate. We came up with three ideas that we felt reflected a different element of the work Cummins is doing - “Hydrogen Dreams”. “A Glass of Water” and “1”.
